Most of us don't know that there are still many breakdance moves we haven't heard it's name...so~!!FREEZES!!!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_breakdance_moves
Is a little list which has most breakdancing moves...
I'm going to list down my own stuff here as well...anything that is related to breakdance, I'll give one little explanation. May be wrong or inaccurate.
ROCKS!!!
Toprock:
Toprocks are basically moving your legs when you're in standing position. They're done following the beat (drum snares usually), to get the rhythm/feel and before starting a routine. Basically...you must toprock!!! before showing your ultimate true spectrum of rainbow colours!! You can also walk around the ring/stage, called travelling, which can gather attention of the audiences before you start doing your routine.
Uprock:
Uprocks are mostly on upper body movements..like jerks..and burns and all that. Miss Chibi there has one shaking thing with the hands forward, that's also part of uprock.
Downrock:
Downrocks are...footworks on the floor. 6-steps, 5-steps...
FUNKS!!!
Popping:
Popping~!! is where you suddenly make a 'pop' by contracting and relaxing muscles..like a little sudden jerk on part of your body according to the beat. Popping is one big category that has... Boogaloo, Gliding, Wave, Tutting, Robot, Body Isolation, Animation, Vibrating, Scarecrow, Slow-Mo, Fast Forward...
Locking:
Locking basically means freezing from a fast movement and landing in a certain position, holding that position for a short while and then continuing in the same speed as before.(copy and paste from wikipedia...there's no other way i can describe it) Locking must tightly follow and synchronise with the beat. Has moves like Skeeter Rabbit, Scooby-doo, Uncle Sam Points, Wrist Twirl, Oilwell, Stop-and-go...and many others. You can take a look at videos to learn, pretty simple.
Krumping: (not a Funk dance)
Krumping is an aggressive kinda dance that involves exaggerated and violent moves...like the swinging of arms and stamping. Chest pops are also part of Krumping. For those of you that went to the Convent Fiesta 08, you'll probably see a guy which claims he's doing Krumping, that isn't. Go look for videos to look at it.
Ok, back to breakdancing...
DROPS!!!
There are only a few drops I know, so I'll only talk about it.
Coindrop:
From standing position, you jump!! You drop on your shoulder!!! You go into a windmill!!! Then you can continue your mill, or bounce back up to standing position.
Kneedrop:
From standing position, you put one leg behind your other leg..cross it behind. Then you crouch down by bending your knee down with the leg that you didn't use to cross. When you're down on the ground, you can footwork, or jump, or go back into standing position.
Elbowdrop:
When you handstand, you just put one of your elbow down, and thats it.
SUICIDES!!!
Again, I only know a few suicides...
Pencildrop:
Pencildrop may sound like a drop to you, but its more like a suicide because it involves falling on your back. It's one hard and hell of a suicide...which you'll endure some pain doing it. Stand straight and fall back on the floor...like when you put a pencil straight and let it fall. So imagine the pencil being you...You can also do a pencildrop from handstand or headstand position, just fall on your back...
Handspring Suicide:
Jump forward into a handspring, like I always do..and then flip over and fall on your back. Ahh, how joyful.
Frontflip Suicide:
Frontflip suicide!! Just kick one leg forward, then swing it back and flip over, then fall on your back. Of course, if you're a pro, you can just go straight to your back...if not, try to swing your leg as hard as you can, and land on your feet before going on your back.
Butt Suicide:
Simply jump and fall on your buttocks. It's very dangerous, don't think it's easy, lol.
FOOTWORK!!!
When you do footwork, when you put your hands on the floor, use your fingers instead. It will look cleaner. Some I don't know, so...go look for yourself.
Helicopter/Coffee Grinder/Ball and Chain/1-step:
You use one leg and rotate around you while crouching. When you reach your other leg which is stationary, just jump and allow your rotating leg to go through. Repeat it. You can do this reverse as well.
Baby Swipes/2-step:
Swipes involves rotating of legs. In baby swipes, you'll have to do a small one~! Crouch down, then cross one leg to your other leg. While you do so, you put both of your hands to (the left side if you cross your left leg, to the right if you cross your right leg) then lift your whole body up. When your body is up you uncross your legs and you'll turn 180 degrees, and land with your crossing leg with your other leg straightened forward. Complicated? Look for a video...a variation of the baby swipe is to do it with your legs straightened, no need to cross your leg.
3-step:
Easier than baby swipes, this is like it, but you don't have to lift your body and twist! Crouch down, put one leg straight forward. Then move your straightened leg under your stationary leg and turn your body to be in a push-up position (if your straightened leg is your right leg, move it to your left side, and you will be in a push-up position facing to your right). Then, from the push-up position, hop to one direction to make 180 degrees and land on your same foot with one leg straightened like in starting position...let's say if your right leg is the straight one, move under your left to push up position, then hop to your right from the push up position...you'll be 180 degrees from your initial position. Complicated?? VIDEO!!
4-step:
This is Timothy's windcutting-lightning fast-electrifying-gutbusting-...footwork move!!! Start from crouch position...cross one leg, then jump into push up position facing the same direction as you started. Then you hop to one side with your other leg straightened (not the leg you crossed with, the other leg) and then switch legs...put down your straightened leg, and straightened the other leg. Let's say, you crouch you facing the front...you cross your right leg..then you hop to push-up position, facing the front. Then you hop to your right, with your left leg straightened, right leg on the floor. Then, you straighten your right leg and put your left leg on the floor Overall, you'll turn 270 degrees from your starting position. I know, complicated, video...
5-step:
I'm really starting to get tired of explaining footwork, you'll probably can't understand. Go look for a video. This is basically like a 6-step with a hop from the push-up position to the 2nd step. (See 6-step)
6-step:
I'm going to start with the push-up position...I'll explain it anti-clockwise..if you go clockwise, just do the other way round.
You start facing forward...
1st Step: Move your left leg to the right side, parallel with your hands. Lift up your right hand when you do so. You'll face to your right now.
2nd Step: Move your right leg to the side of your left leg, knees parallel. Still facing right.
3rd Step: Swing your left leg over to the front. Now you'll be facing forward again.
4th Step: Swing your right leg and cross to the front of your left leg while putting your right hand down, and lift your left hand up.
5th Step: Move your left leg back. You'll be facing to the left.
6th Step: Move your right leg back as well, and you'll be in the same push up position as before.
Simple? No? Video!
7-step:
Like the 6-step, on anti-clockwise...after first step, bring your right leg in front of your left leg, cross in front...yes cross in front of your straightened left leg then hop forward with your left leg straightened, right leg on the floor. Then continue by crossing your left leg..and so on. If you do this slow, it will look like crap.
12-step/Scrambles:
For anti-clockwise...clockwise, just do the other way round. From push up position, cross left leg behind your right leg and lift your left hand up. Then move your right leg to the side of your left leg to be in push up position again...but in a slightly different direction now. Then this time, cross your left leg forward, and lift your right hand up. Then move your right leg back to push up position again...and repeat...look at video better...12-step is simple, so it's easy for starters.
Switch/Pompo/CC:
When you're crouching with one leg straightened, put your hands to the side where you leg is straightened (if your right leg straightened, put hands on right side) then lift your other leg's knee and put it on top of the straight leg. Then return back to your starting position, and switch legs, and do the same.
For some reason, moves in freezes are in pink!! That's because when you do a baby freeze, all the girls that don't know breaking will scream in amazement. Not joking.
Baby Freeze:
Your typical freeze, that probably is everyone's first freeze...except for some. Put your one of your elbow on your hip, preferably the strongest hand and put your other hand on the floor beside you, bent, to form one place on your elbow for your knee to be placed there. Then just go on the floor and put your knee on your elbow. After that, there are many leg movements/placement you can do...hopefully don't close your legs together while still on your elbow.
Turtle Freeze:
Put both of your elbows on your stomach and then lift your body up in air.
Handglide Freeze:
Same like turtle freeze, but with one hand only.
Chair:
Put one elbow on the side of your hips, one leg on the floor and cross the other leg on top of it. Then put your other hand behind your back. Your head can touch the floor.
Side Chair:
One elbow on the side of your hips while lifting up your entire body.
Airchair:
One elbow on your back and then lift up your body, both legs straightened up.
Airbaby:
Put your knee on the your elbow, (if right knee, then put it on right elbow) then put your hands on the ground and lift your body up, while one knee is on your elbow.
Planche:
Gymnastics!! Oh~!! Put both of your hands on the ground, lift your body up in the air and your legs straight. Your whole body must be completely horizontal, with only hands on the floor.
KICKS!!!
L-Kick:
A kick with an L shape. Put one hand on the ground, lift your body up, and spread your legs in a 90 degree manner to form a L shape.
Nike-Kick:
Like the L-kick, but legs spread wider to form the Nike logo.
V-Kick:
One legged V-kicks are known as Jesters/Applejacks. V-kicks are when you jump back and stretch both your legs towards your head.
Pike:
Put one hand on the ground and turn your body so it faces upwards, and straighten your leg in the air with one hand in-between legs/holding legs.
And finally...
POWER MOVES!!!
Swipes:
A widely recognized power move in which the breaker twists their upper body in the air followed by their legs. Baby swipes are not considered to be power moves. Airswipes are swipes with straightened legs in a higher position turning 180 degrees from the inital facing direction. Master-swipes remain in the same position, but the body turns 360 degrees. Master-swipes are more difficult to execute than Airswipes.
Flares:
A move from gymnastics~!! Oh~! Gymnastics!! But in breakdance, flares are more of power, gymnastics are more of momentum. You can see the difference if you look at videos, since flares in breakdance are more of power, it looks cooler. So~! Flares are one of your hardest power moves in your life! Flares involve rotating your legs around your body while balancing on your hands. King Flares are hopping flares...and Virgin Flares are flares with the legs tucked. Air Flares...I don't wanna talk about it...it's too much.
Windmills:
Windmills are like flares, but done by rolling on the ground with your upper body, the shoulder part, not your hip...if you do with your hips, you're not gonna get height and will slam your hip on the floor and get hurt and cry in pain and agony~! So there are many variants of mills...so...Halos are mills while balancing on the head when you roll, Superman are windmills done with hands on your sides...Airplane are mills with arms straight and spread, Babymills are mills with your legs tucked/bent, Tombstone mills are mills with your legs like in pike...these are probably the hardest mills to do, Genies are mills with crossed arms over your chest, Nutcracker are mills with hands covering your balls, Eggbeaters are mills with hands on thighs, Barrels are mills with arms like a circle on your chest and finally Mummies are mills with your hands on the side of your head.
Backspin:
Backspin...really really fast, can link to mills, flares, swipes, anything.
Rubberband:
Jump back and land on your hands, then lower your body down and perform a kick back up into standing position...then repeat.
Spins!!!
1990:
A one-handed spinning handstand. Elbow 90s are 1990s with the elbow instead of hand.
2000:
A one-handed spinning handstand with the other hand on it.
Handspin:
Do not confuse this with Turtle Spin...handspin is a spinning handglide, that doesn't involve any hopping.
Headspin:
Spin while you're in headstand. Drill means to straighten your legs and achieve maximum speed during the headspin, but will lose some stability.
FLOATS!!!
Cricket:
Hop around in circular motion while in handglide position.
Jackhammer:
One-handed crickets.
Darkhammer:
Hop from one hand to another while in Turtle.
Air Turtle/UFO
A turtle spin where you don't stab your elbow to your stomach.
Handhops:
Hopping one-hand stands.
OTHERS!!!
Handstand:
Place hands one ground and lift your body up. Back straight for more stability.
Solar Eclipse:
Hopping handstands.
Lunar Eclipse:
Hopping 1990s.
Hollowback:
While handstand, lower your legs as close as you can towards the back of your head, and curl your head towards your legs.
Scorpion:
Like the hollowback, but done on elbow stand.
Invert:
Inverted version of Hollowback, bending legs forward instead of backward.
Bronco
A handstand and immediately kick back to standing position and repeat. The goal is to spend as much time in the air before their feet touches the ground. When their feet touches, the breaker bounces immediately off their toes, sending their upper body back towards the ground. When their hands touches, they repeats from step two and get a fly bounce going.
Headstand:
Place head on the ground and lift body up. Start by putting knees on your elbows and then balance using hands.
Corkscrew:
Kick to the air and spin horizontally in air for around 540 degrees and land.
Gainer:
A backflip that goes forward. Cool move.
That's about it, I'm tired...there are some more moves not listed here, but you can go look for it. I'll list some moves here..like Butterfly, Emerican Crab, Worm, Threading, Layback 540 and so on.
